Fishing Reports

Trout:

The trout fishing good. Fair reports on trout have been coming in from the public dock in Rockaway Beach and the boats are reporting good fishing. The trout are running average size. The best baits are Mepps Spinners (larger spinners) Panther Martins, buoyants, small rapala’s, and swimming minnows. Make sure you use the mepps spinners with no hair, the fish prefer the plan baits. I also put one size larger hooks on these lures. The best colors for gum and power bait is white and orange (both colors on the hook). Most people are using power bait right now. Several Brown trout have been reported. During the trout tournament a couple weeks ago a 5lb brown and a 5 lb rainbow were caught.

Succkers: No Report

Crappie: No Report

Blue Gills: No Report

Hybrids : No report

Bass:
Bass are slow. They are definitly their winter pattern. Stick baits and jigs are the top lure. Soft plastic is slow. Pig and jig is probably your best bet. Some fish can be caught in the drops and gravel banks. If I were fishing a tournament, I would cover alot of water, so keep the trolling motors charged. I think the larger fish are suspending on deeper water drops. Docks still are very slow. Continue to be a line watcher if you fished pig and jig, becuse you will not feel them, just see the line moving towards deep water or just feel weight. When you think you are fishing slow, slow down some more, and if you feel weight, jurk.

Walleye: no report
